In July of this year, two Georgia hospitals were cited for failing to comply with a new law that requires medical facilities to post accurate pricing for common procedures on their website.  A new study shows that only about 16% of hospitals are abiding by the new law that went in place eighteen months ago.

Both hospitals in Rome – AdventHealth Redmond and AtriumHealth Floyd were found to be in compliance with the law.

Northside Hospital in Atlanta and Northside Hospital Cherokee were the first two hospitals fined under the new regulation.

According to the report, hospitals continue to disregard the rule because the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services doesn’t generally enforce the rule or issue penalties. The organization says this has blocked tech developers and consumers from being able to compare prices and benefit from competition.
