A motion to delay layoffs at Hutcheson Medical Center has been denied in U.S. Bankruptcy Court. The judge presiding over that case ruled that the Bankruptcy Trustee has the right to demand layoffs, and it looks as though the hospital will be closed on schedule, by December 4th.
An attempt was made to keep the hospital operating through December 21st in an attempt to increase chances that a new buyer would come forth and keep the facility open.
However that looks unlikely with the hospitals assets scheduled to be auctioned off one day prior to closing – on December 3rd.
Regions Bank, one of the hospital's largest creditors, opposed the motion to delay closing of the facility.
