Over the weekend, WZQZ News reported that the Chattooga County Convenience Center trash site in the Mountain View area would be closed this week.  Public Works Director Joe Reed says that plans are to reopen the site next week.

Several posts on social media have indicated that the dump site is closed for good, but Reed says those rumors are not true.  WZQZ News spoke with Joe Reed on Tuesday and he said that the plan is still to reopen the dump site – either in the former location or in a new location – starting next Monday, July 27th.

The site was closed because the Town of Trion is doing work on a road in the area and utility companies were called in to move utility poles.  The work is expected to be completed by week’s end.
