State Senator Jeff Mullis , a Republican from Chickamauga, has told the WALKER COUNTY MESSENGER that he is opposed to the merger of Northwestern Tech and Coosa Valley Tech.  While Mullis does not support the merger he stated that he understood why the state was doing the merger of the two technical colleges.

The merger was announced on Monday.  Both the Northwestern Technical College and Coosa Valley Tech will keep their campuses open, but the two schools administration will be combined.  The merger is expected to save the state $3.5 Million.
