State Senator Jeff Mullis has continued speaking out about what he views as unfairness from the Georgia High School Athletics (GHSA) association.  Mullis has filed two bills that would  create a new nonprofit governing body for high school athletics.

Trion School Supt. Phil Williams isn’t happy about the reclassification either.  Williams has told WZQZ News in the past the the GHSA isn’t listening to smaller school systems like Trion and others that are being lumped in with private schools with the GHSA’s new classifications.   According to reports, Williams was asked to express that frustration to the GHSA executive board last week, that according to meeting minutes of the GHSA.

While the GHSA has not made any public statements about Mullis’ two bills,  State Senator Mullis says that the organization is desperately trying to protect their domain.  Mullis expressed his thoughts on the floor of the Georgia Senate saying, “They’re trying to protect their evilness. They’re trying to protect how they violate other high schools and school systems around Georgia… We’re trying to get them to understand that their goal should be to make sure high school systems are treated fairly.”

The GHSA has asked Trion School Supt. Dr. Phil Williams to attend a meeting between them and Senator Mullis, according to reports.
