AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio reported yesterday about a bill in the Georgia Senate that would allow counties and municipalities throughout the state to serve and sell alcohol on Sundays. Today we learn that State Senator Jeff Mullis, a Republican from Chickamauga who represents Chattooga, Dade, Walker and part of Catoosa County in the State Senate was one of the co-sponsors of the Sunday Alcohol Sales.
Mullis told the media that he does not favor Sunday Alcohol Sales but does support the idea that local areas should be able to make their own decisions about the issue. Governor Sonny Perdue, the top Republican in the state has stated his opposition to the bill. The sponsors of the bill cite the increased revenue Sunday Alcohol Sales would bring to the state.
