State Senator Jeff Mullis, a Republican from Chickamauga, is in Chattanooga today pushing the idea of a high speed rail line from Chattanooga to Atlanta. The high speed rail line has been an idea that has been floated for many years in Northwest Georgia. With the advent of the Chattanooga Volkswagon plant, Mullis says the time might be right to consider the project. Estimates to build the rail line are around $3 Billion. Mullis believes that the rail way could be used to move some freight along with passengers, thus increasing the viability of the plan.
