Republican State Senator Jeff Mullis of Chickamauga is taking an understanding tone regarding the recent resignation of Georgia DOT Chairman Mike Evans.  Evans announced this past Thursday that he would be stepping down as Chairman because he is involved in a romantic relationship with DOT Commissioner Gena Abraham.

Senator Mullis said that Evan’s decision to step down was “honorable”.  Mullis told the Walker County Messenger that he understood the public concern that has been expressed, but feels that some people are making more of the relationship than really exists and that Evans has tried to handle the situation with integrity.  Mullis went on to point out that both Evans and Abraham are single adults that have found companionship.  Senator Mullis represents Chattooga County, Walker County, Dade County and a portion of Catoosa County in the Georgia State Senate.
