Multiple law enforcement agencies in Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee worked together to arrest three people in connection with thefts that had occurred in multiple jurisdictions, including Chattooga County.
In September of this year, the Dade County, Georgia Sheriff’s Office and Trenton Police department began getting reports of storage units being burglarized. Investigators soon determined the same vehicle they saw in surveillance videos was also in a social media post about a stolen trailer that had been posted by the Summerville Police Department. Investigators reached out to surrounding counties and detectives from the Rainsville, Alabama police department provide information about a possible suspect. Then, Fort Oglethorpe Police stopped the vehicle and identified three suspects and passed that information on to Dade County and Summerville Police. Warrants were then taken out by Summerville Police for the arrest of the three suspects.
Officers from the Dade County Sheriff’s Office, Trenton Police Department, Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force, Summerville Police Department, Trion Police Department, Rainsville Police Department, and Fort Payne Police Department all went to a residence in Rainsville and arrested the three subjects involved in the theft ring.
The suspects arrested were:
Tammy Walters (49 of Rainsville, AL)
Kristie Cobb (25 of Rainsville, AL)
Jake Carter (25 of Rainsville, AL)
After the arrest of the 3 individuals in Alabama, Dade County Sheriff’s Office, Trenton PD, Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force, Summerville PD, Trion PD, and Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office went to a residence in Tennessee and located a stolen trailer and a stolen four wheeler.
So far, these suspects have been linked to thefts in Dade County, Trenton, Summerville, Ringgold, Chickamauga, Fort Payne Alabama, DeKalb County Alabama, Rainsville Alabama, and Albertville Alabama. The investigation is ongoing, and we are still speaking with other agencies regarding their involvement in additional jurisdictions.
Dade County Sheriff Ray Cross said, “I want to thank all the agencies that were involved in taking down this multi-state theft ring. Without the teamwork that went in this investigation, their arrest wouldn’t have been possible”.
