The investigation continues in Cherokee County, Alabama into what is now being ruled a murder/suicide.

At approximately 4:00pm Saturday authorities were notified that a woman’s body was discovered beside her vehicle at Cornwall Furnace Park in Cedar Bluff.

Law enforcement personnel from the Cherokee County Sheriff`s Office, Cedar Bluff Police Department, District Attorney’s Office, and the Department of Forensic Science responded to the scene.

Authorities have identified the victim as 25 year old Jessica Arnell Sharp of Cedar Bluff, Sharp was pronounced dead at the scene by Cherokee County Coroner Broderick Smith.

Authorities were notified a short time later that the suspect, who has been identified as 39 year old Michael Joseph Snider of Gaylesville had placed a call to Cherokee County 911 stating that he was in a wooded area approximately three miles away and that he had a self inflicted knife wound, Snider also related information about his involvement in the death of Sharp.

Emergency personnel and law enforcement personnel responded and located Snider in the woods, firefighters did establish a landing-zone and a helicopter was landed at Cedar Bluff School however, Snider was instead rushed to Cherokee Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver the incident remains under investigation.
