The murder trial of Renee Lanham is being moved to Walker County due to flood damage at the Chattooga County Courthouse.  Judge Don Thompson made the decision on Monday to move the trial which has been going on for two weeks already.

The first week the trial got underway, court proceedings had to be delayed after Lanham’s attorney tested positive for COVID-19.  Judge Thompson suspended the proceedings which picked up again last week.  The trial was still going on Friday when court recessed for the Labor Day weekend.

Lanham is standing trial for the murder of her husband. The fifty-three-year-old hair dresser is standing trial for felony murder, malice murder, aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit murder and criminal solicitation.  Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader says that Lanham is the only charged in connection with the murder.  Lanham’s defense lawyer, Summerville attorney Albert Palmour said in opening statements that she did not commit the murder.
