A date for a murder trial for a Chattooga County woman accused of killing her husband, Edward Earl Lanham,  in 2017 has been set for later this month.

Fifty-three-year-old Renee Lanham is accused of shooting and killing her seventy-five-year-old husband on Butler Dairy Road in September of 2017.

At the time, Sheriff Mark Schrader told WZQZ News, “Mr. Lanham was shot to death at his residence in what was made to look like a burglary.”  Sheriff Schrader said, that the evidence lead his investigators to believe that Renee Lanham was the person who planned the murder of her husband and saw to it that those plans were followed through with.

In a statement to WZQZ News, members of the Lanham family said “(Edward Lanham) was shot while sleeping in his bed. On February 8th 2018 his wife, Susan Renee Lanham, was arrested and charged with his murder. She is currently out on bond. The family has waited almost 5 years for justice to be served and we finally have a trial date set for August 22nd 2022.”

The family of Mr. Lanham says that they want to get the word out about the trial which will be held in Chattooga County Superior Court later this month.
