AN UPDATE ON THAT HUNTING ACCIDENT SUNDAY AT A WALKER COUNTY HUNTING PRESERVE, WHICH WAS HOSTING INSURANCE COMMISSIONER JOHN OXENDINE AND HIS TEENAGE SONS. 

A DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES REPORT STATES THAT A 14 YEAR OLD HUNTER ACCIDENTALLY FIRED THE SHOTGUN PATTERN… WHICH STRUCK AND WOUNDED 59 YEAR OLD RUSSELL M. ROBERTSON JR. OF CHICKAMAUGA.  THE OXENDINE CAMPAIGN HAS JUST RELEASED INFORMATION THAT THE BOY WHO ACCIDENTLY FIRED THE SHOT WAS 13 NOT 14 AND WAS THE SON OF THE INSURANCE COMMISSIONER.

THE AJC REPORTS THAT ROBERTSON WAS TAKEN BY PRIVATE CAR TO A ROME HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT OF ABOUT 30 BIRD-SHOT PELLETS IN HIS LEG.  THE YOUNGSTER AND OTHER HUNTERS WERE FIRING AT A FLUSHED QUAIL AT THE TIME.

COMMISSIONER OXENDINE’S PARTY WAS BEING HOSTED AT THE PRESERVE BY A ROME GEORGIA INSURANCE COMPANY OWNER, DEE YANCEY III  WHO ALSO OWNS THE HUNTING PRESERVE.

OXENDINE IS SLATED TO BE IN CHATTOOGA COUNTY ON FRIDAY TO SPEAK TO THE OPTIMIST CLUB AT THE TAVERN IN TRION.
