The names of five men involved in the hold-up of the Union State Bank in Cedar Bluff on Tuesday, have now been released.

According to information in a News Release from FBI Spokesperson, Paul Daymond, the five individuals – Brian Jerome Lindsey, James Lavon Shropshire Jr, Cory Morgan, Ramarez Antwan Baker and James Jahad Ravenel – appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge John Ott, in Federal Court in Birmingham on Wednesday.

Reportedly Shropshire, Morgan, Baker and Ravenel – wearing masks and armed with two guns and a toy gun – entered the bank at around 11:00 Tuesday morning and they forced a bank manager to open the vault – meanwhile, they took money from the teller drawers.

Allegedly the fifth suspect – Lindsey, who was in Gadsden at the time of the robbery – had planned the robbery and the others were to bring the money to him.

The men left the parking lot in a stolen Chevy Malibu and switched over to red Nissan Maxima just down the street; somewhere during the process a red dye pack exploded inside their car – with red-paint stained money and clothing being found behind the car wash.

The suspects fled Cedar Bluff and were headed toward Ft Payne on Highway 35 and crashed their vehicle while being pursued by a Cherokee County Sheriff`s Deputy. After the wreck they bailed out and fled into the woods.

Both Morgan and Ravenel were quickly taken into custody at the edge of the woods – Shropshire was found hiding in the woods a short time later.

Baker was able to remain hidden in the woods – he later caught a ride from a motorist who was unaware of the robbery.

He was dropped off at a store on Lookout Mountain, where he called Lindsey to pick him up.

Lindsey then had two other men from Gadsden take him to Ft Payne to pick up Baker – telling them that Baker had car trouble; it was determined that neither of the men had any idea that Baker was wanted. After picking Baker up at the store – the man driving soon felt something was wrong, and ordered Baker out of the car on Highway 35.

He then ran into the woods and crossed Beason Gap Road and was later found by the tracking dogs – hiding in a garbage can.

Lindsey and the other Gadsden men also were taken into custody.

The other two individuals were questioned and released, after it became clear that they had no involvement in the bank robbery.

All five of the suspects, were transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center in connection with the robbery.

They were picked up by FBI Agents shortly before 11:30 Wednesday morning.

Lindsey was arrested in 2008 and identified as the leader of a bank robbery ring which was operating out of East Gadsden.

That group was linked to several robberies in Cherokee, Etowah, Calhoun & Marshall counties.
