Chattooga County Public Works Director Lamar Canada told AM1180 Chattooga County Radio over the weekend that the Georgia State Department of Transportation is scheduled to be in Chattooga County today to inspect the Neal Gap Bridge that has been closed for some time. The bridge was closed because county officials were concerned about the support structure of the bridge after the heavy rains and flood waters of the past several weeks that have affected the pilings on the bridge. Canada told AM 1180 that the D.O.T. will either instruct the county on what to do to repair the bridge or the bridge may have to be closed.  AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio will keep you updated on the status of the bridge.
