Nearly a half a million unemployed Georgians are currently looking for work according to numbers released by the Georgia Department of Labor last week. Unemployment in the Coosa Valley Region rose from 9.5 percent in January to 10.5 percent in February according to the data from the Department of Labor. Chattooga County has the highest rate in the area at 13.9%; up from 12.1%. Walker County’s unemployment rate stands at 11.2%.
