News of a new national restaurant chain opening it’s doors in downtown Summerville broke on Friday afternoon. Jeffersons’ – a national chain based in Jacksonville, Alabama – has announced that they are expanding to Summerville. There is also word of a new Jeffersons opening in Fort Payne, Alabama.
Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters said that the announcement came after several weeks of the owners looking at downtown Summerville. Winters said that the new restaurant’s opening is a result of cooperation between the county and Summerville City governments working to insure the owners have what they need to make their new business succesful. Winters said the same spirit of cooperation has brought about the Marvin’s store in Summerville and the new Dollar Tree.
Local developer Larry Howard will be renovating the old Richies Store on Commerce Street to meet Jeffersons requirements.
