The Chattooga County Board of Education met on Thursday evening and selected a new member to fill the seat formerly held by Sam Ballard.

Mr. Ballard passed away last year leaving a vacancy on the board. The board took applications to fill the seat.

The board selected Lyn Hall of Menlo to serve on Thursday evening. Mr. Hall has a long history as an educator in Chattooga County. He is the former principal of Menlo Elementary School and served as the Chattooga County Young Farmer advisor before his retirement.

The vote to appoint Mr. Hall to the seat was 3-1 with Board Members Elsberry, Hayes and Montgomery voting in favor and Dr. Julia Houston opposing.
