It appears investigators are looking at new information prior to making arrests in the Floyd County Board of Education theft case.

Floyd County Police Chief Bill Shiflett said investigators were hoping to make arrests in the case last week, but they decided to wait after receiving that information, which led to more interviews and possibly more involvement.

Reportedly those thefts total more than $3 million.

Chattooga County resident and former Floyd County School System Maintenance Director, Derry Richardson was first accused of stealing from the school system last year eventually leading to accusations against contractors and other employees.

Chief Shiflett said he expects between 12 and 14 arrests to be made in connection with the case.
