New regulations on the hemp industry will start in Georgia on October 1st.  Right now, there is virtually no regulation of the products but all that will change next month.  When the new law takes effect next month, it will prohibit retailers from selling hemp products to anyone under the age of 21 and impose labeling, packaging, and testing requirements on manufacturers.  The legislation that was passed earlier this year will require hemp growers, manufacturers, and retailers to obtain licenses and pay a licensing fee. Violators will be subject to criminal misdemeanor charges and civil penalties.  Products will also be limited.  It will no longer be legal to sell smokable or food products containing hemp.
