Lyerly School will be getting a new roof after the Chattooga County Board of Education met last week to approve the winning bid.

CGS Waterproofing of Norcross, Georgia won the bid to do the job at a price of $214,329.21.  There were seven bids in all for the roofing project, but CGS had the lowest qualifying bid.  School Supt. Jared Hosmer told the board of education that the company had done work for the school system before, having put a new roof on at Summerville Middle School.  Hosmer also told the board that the company committed to having a swift turnaround on the job – promising to have the new roof on in fourteen days, once they start.

This week, the school system was in the process of picking out a shingle color and developing the actual contract for CGS Waterproofing, in hopes that the work could start as soon as next week.

Last week’s called board meeting was the last for outgoing School Superintendent Hosmer who officially retired on June 30th.
