Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton says drivers can now order a new specialty license plate, with another new design expected to be announced in the next couple of weeks.

Hampton says this plate is not currently kept in stock locally, but it can be ordered through the Chattooga County Tax Commissioner’s Office. A portion of the fee will benefit Support Our Troops, with $10 going to supportourtroops.com when the plate is purchased and again at renewal.

Here’s the cost breakdown provided by the Tax Commissioner’s Office:

  • Initial cost: $80, plus applicable ad valorem tax

  • Annual renewal: $55, plus applicable ad valorem tax

Initial $80 fee distribution:

  • $20 Annual License Registration Fee

  • $25 Manufacturing Fee ($24 to the State General Fund, $1 to the local county)
