North Georgia EMC says that its members are being targeted by a phone scam.  The utility that serves a large portion of Chattooga and surrounding counties says that they were made aware of the scam earlier this month.

According to North Georgia EMC, “NGEMC has received a report of a scam in operation in our service area. The caller claims to be an NGEMC supervisor, asking that the member pay a fee immediately to avoid disconnection. The scammer proceeded to call the member again, requesting more money. Remember, any time you receive a call from someone demanding payment or threatening you with disconnection, hang up immediately and call NGEMC at one of our published numbers.”
