North Georgia EMC is reminding its agricultural members to update their Georgia Agricultural Tax Exemption (GATE) Card information before the end of the year. Farmers who qualify for the exemption must renew their GATE status annually through the Georgia Department of Agriculture, and then provide their updated card number to NGEMC.

The cooperative stresses that members must submit their renewed GATE Card to NGEMC no later than December 31 to maintain tax-exempt status on all eligible electric accounts. Without an updated card on file, tax exemptions for qualifying agricultural services could be interrupted going into the new year.

Farmers can renew their GATE Card by visiting the Georgia Department of Agriculture’s website. Once renewed, NGEMC members are asked to complete the submission form provided by the cooperative and list all account numbers that should be covered under the exemption.

NGEMC encourages members to update their information as soon as possible to avoid delays and ensure uninterrupted tax-exempt billing on agricultural accounts.
