The Northwest Georgia Area Agency on Aging (AAA) has announced it will hold its quarterly meeting, inviting members of the public, particularly seniors and their advocates, to attend and learn about regional efforts concerning aging services.

The meeting is set for Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 10 a.m. It will take place in the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission Conference Room, located at 1 Jackson Hill Drive in Rome. The session is open to all interested citizens.

The Area Agency on Aging operates under the designation of the Georgia Department of Human Resources, with the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission serving as the administrative body. In this capacity, the AAA is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing a comprehensive array of programs and services critical to the health and welfare of older Georgians throughout the region.

According to agency officials, the primary concern of the Northwest Georgia AAA is ensuring the health and well-being of the elderly citizens across the service area.

The AAA administers services by contracting with various specialized provider agencies across its 15-county territory. Oversight and guidance for these initiatives are provided by an Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council, which includes direct consumers of the services the agency provides.

Citizens attending the quarterly meeting will have the opportunity to hear updates on ongoing programs, discuss current challenges facing senior populations, and learn how the agency works to align state resources with local needs.
