The Northwest Georgia Area Agency on Aging (NWGAAA) will hold its quarterly meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 24, at the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission Conference Room, located at 1 Jackson Hill Drive. The meeting is open to the public.
The Northwest Georgia Area Agency on Aging serves adults age 60 and older, as well as their caregivers, across a 15-county region of Northwest Georgia. The agency works to help older adults remain independent, safe, and healthy in their homes and communities for as long as possible.
Services coordinated or supported by the agency include home-delivered meals, senior center meals, transportation assistance, in-home services, caregiver support programs, wellness initiatives, health education, legal assistance referrals, and long-term care advocacy. The agency also oversees programs that protect the rights of older adults, including the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program, which advocates for residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
The Area Agency on Aging operates under the umbrella of the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission and works in partnership with local governments, service providers, and community organizations to address the needs of the aging population throughout the region.
Members of the public interested in aging services, caregiver resources, or regional planning for older adults are encouraged to attend the meeting.
