An uptick in COVID-19 cases has prompted one hospital in Northwest Georgia to reinstate its mask policy.  Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center is bringing back masks requirements for staff and visitors, citing “the current COVID-19 high transmission rate in Bartow County”.

According to the latest numbers released on Wednesday by the Georgia Department of Public Health, Chattooga County saw a slight decrease in the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 over the previous week.

There were 13 positive cases reported this week, compared to 19 to a week ago.

In all, there were 77 deaths from COVID-19 over the past week across the state.
