An 18-year-old man from Cedartown has been arrested in connection with the death of an infant that occurred in March on Leafmore Road in West Rome. Trenton Daniel Rittenhouse was taken into custody Thursday on felony warrants and is currently being held in the Floyd County Jail without bond.

According to details outlined in the arrest warrants, Rittenhouse is accused of causing fatal injuries to the infant. Authorities allege that Rittenhouse violently shook the victim, resulting in severe internal hemorrhaging and a broken rib. The infant tragically succumbed to these injuries at a later date, leading to the charges against Rittenhouse.

Rittenhouse faces charges of felony murder and aggravated battery. The investigation into the infant’s death has been ongoing since March, culminating in Thursday’s arrest. Further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident have not yet been released.
