A Northwest Georgia man, James Myers, 52, of Catoosa County, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison followed by 30 years of sex offender probation after being convicted on charges of soliciting a minor online and distributing child pornography. The sentence comes after a two-day trial that concluded with a guilty verdict on all four counts of a March 2025 indictment.

The investigation began when the Texas-based organization, Predator Poachers, uncovered Myers’ online activity. Myers believed he was communicating with an 11-year-old girl named “Emily” via Facebook. This “Emily” profile was, in reality, part of a sting operation conducted by the group. According to prosecutors, Myers sent a series of graphic messages to the fake profile and arranged an in-person meeting. He was also caught on camera admitting to the distribution of child pornography via the Telegram messaging app, and to accessing illegal content on the dark web. Predator Poachers subsequently handed over the incriminating footage and chat logs to the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office. A search of Myers’ phone by local law enforcement revealed further evidence supporting the charges.

Catoosa County District Attorney Clayton Fuller commended the collaborative efforts of law enforcement and the Predator Poachers in bringing Myers to justice. “There are lines you better never cross with me — and wanting to destroy the innocence of our children is one of them,” stated Fuller. He emphasized the commitment of his office to protect children from online predators.
