Once again, the Northwest Georgia area has seen another spike in COVID-19 cases over the past week.  The Georgia Department of Public Health releases updates on COVID-19 cases on Wednesday of each week.

Over the past week there has been a 36.2% increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in the region.  That makes it the largest weekly increase since the Department of Public Health moved from daily reports to weekly reports earlier this year.

Over the past week there were 847 new COVID-19 cases reported in Floyd, Bartow, Gordon, Polk and Chattooga Counties.  That compares with 622 cases the previous week.  There were four more COVID-19 deaths reported over the past week in the five county area.

Statewide,  there were 21,866 additional cases over the previous week, pushing the total above 2.12 million.

In Chattooga County there were 86 new COVID-19 cases reported, compared to 60 the previous reporting period.
