The current dry pattern is attributed to a “cut-off low” pressure system positioned along the coast of the Carolinas. This system, combined with a weak area of high pressure west of the Appalachians, is generating persistent northeast winds across Georgia. These winds are bringing in lower surface dew points, effectively limiting the potential for convective activity (thunderstorms) throughout north and central Georgia.

Temperatures are expected to hold steady through Tuesday, with afternoon highs reaching the mid to upper 80s. Overnight lows will settle comfortably in the lower 60s.

However, the lack of precipitation is becoming a growing concern. The extended dry spell is anticipated to continue, with no meaningful rainfall likely throughout the workweek.

As the week progresses, the upper-level low weakens and shifts northeastward, allowing for a brief strengthening of ridging. This will push temperatures even higher, with afternoon highs climbing to near 90 degrees Fahrenheit by Friday.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City, Georgia  emphasizing the need for rain. “Without a widespread and soaking rainfall relatively soon, drought development will become increasingly likely,” the outlook warns, highlighting the growing risk for agricultural interests and water resources in the region.
