The widespread dry conditions are expected to persist through much of the upcoming week before a potential shift brings slight chances of rain by Friday.

For Sunday and Monday, the forecast is a repeat performance of Saturday’s pleasant weather. A northeasterly flow, influenced by a trough along the East Coast and a ridge of high pressure over the Ozarks, will continue to funnel dry air into Georgia. This will keep moisture levels low, with very little rain potential across the region.

Temperatures will remain largely consistent, with widespread highs in the mid to upper 80s, and refreshing morning lows in the lower 60s. Lower dewpoints will contribute to comfortable evenings, making outdoor activities enjoyable.

Mid-Week Outlook: Dry and Increasingly Warm

The dry spell is forecast to extend deeper into next week. From Tuesday through Thursday, the weather pattern remains relatively unchanged, with very limited chances for precipitation. Highs could even climb into the low 90s by Thursday as the dry air mass continues to build.

A cut-off upper-level low pressure system is expected to remain generally along the coast, effectively shielding Georgia from tropical moisture and preventing any significant storm development near the surface. The only slight exception might be far northwest Georgia, and potentially the far northeast corner of the state on Tuesday, where some upslope flow could generate isolated, very light showers or thunderstorms. However, probabilities for rain remain very low, generally below 10-15%. Dry conditions are expected to return statewide by Wednesday and Thursday.

Late Week: A Shift Towards Moisture and Rain Chances

A more significant change in the weather pattern is anticipated towards the end of the week. By late Thursday and into Friday, the ridge of high pressure is expected to collapse due to an influx of shortwave energy from the northern plains. This shift is forecast to bring increased moisture into the region, with precipitable water values potentially rising back to more substantial levels.

This combination of new energy and moisture means a return of more meaningful chances for showers and thunderstorms for North Georgia, starting Friday afternoon and continuing into Saturday.

Saturday continues the trend with mostly sunny skies, a chance of showers, and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon, with highs in the upper 80s and a 30 percent chance of rain.
