The Northwest Georgia Area Agency on Aging (AAA) has announced it will hold its quarterly meeting next week, inviting members of the public, especially seniors, caregivers, and advocates, to attend and learn about regional efforts concerning aging services.
The crucial session is scheduled for next Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 10 a.m. It will take place in the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission Conference Room, located at 1 Jackson Hill Drive in Rome. Agency officials emphasize that the session is open to all interested citizens, providing a platform for local input on services for older Georgians.
The Northwest Georgia AAA plays a vital role in planning, coordinating, and managing a comprehensive array of programs designed to support the health and welfare of elderly citizens across its expansive 15-county service territory, which includes Chattooga County.
The agency operates under the designation of the Georgia Department of Human Resources, with the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission serving as the administrative body. According to the AAA, its primary mission is ensuring the ongoing health and well-being of the elderly across the region by aligning state resources with local needs.
Focus on Program Updates and Community Input
Citizens attending the quarterly meeting will have the opportunity to hear updates on ongoing services administered by the AAA, which are typically provided through specialized contracted agencies throughout the region.
Attendees will also be able to discuss current challenges facing senior populations and learn how the agency plans to address them in the coming months.
Oversight and guidance for the AAA’s initiatives are provided by an Advisory Council, which includes direct consumers of the services, underscoring the agency’s commitment to consumer-driven care.
The Area Agency on Aging encourages anyone invested in senior care and regional resources to utilize this opportunity to engage directly with the organization responsible for planning specialized programs for North Georgia’s aging population.
