Earlier this month, Governor Kemp announced broadband grant funding for communities across the State of Georgia. Four grants were awarded to communities and organizations in the four-county area of the Northwest Georgia Joint Development Authority, with over $15 million in funding received and a projected 7,797 new sites to be served via these projects.

The awarded communities and organizations were:

· Chickamauga Telephone Company: $489,756

· Trenton Telephone Company: $6,500,000

· Walker County: $6,253,152

· Chattooga County: $3,040,732

“Broadband access plays a critical role in almost every facet of our lives. These new projects will undoubtedly lead to improvements in healthcare, education, and certainly economic development”, said NWGA JDA Chairman Chip Catlett, “I want to thank the local commissioners, state delegation, and private partners for their leadership on these grants. The NWGA JDA was honored to play a supporting role in seeing these come to fruition.”
