The Town of Lyerly is planning a fundraiser on Saturday, February 6 in observance of Georgia’s Severe Weather Awareness Week. The newly installed tornado siren will be sounded so that Lyerly’s citizens will be able to recognize it in the event of an actual tornado.

The Lyerly Volunteer Fire Department will be selling hotdogs and hamburgers from 10 am to 2 pm on that day.  Stay tuned to AM 1180 for more information on this event.

Lyerly Town Clerk Joy Hampton told AM 1180 on Thursday that the National Weather Service is going to be onhand for the event.  AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio will be broadcasting live from Lyerly on February 6th.  We will have more information on the event in the upcoming days.
