In a letter recently delivered to family members of residents at Oakview Health and Rehabilitation in Summerville, the long-term care facility said that they had completed a COVID-19 testing plan that tested every resident and worker at the location on Highland Avenue.
Oakview reported NO positive cases of COVID-19 in the patients at the center and all staff members also tested negative.
Oakview said that the testing of all patients and workers was the first step of a phased step-by-step plan for the “reopening”, or reduction of center visitation restrictions. Family members of of patients at Oakview have not been allowed to visit in person since the onset of the pandemic.
As Oakview continues to work on their plans to “reopen” the facility so that family members can visit with patients, they remind the public, “It is important to remember that nothing has changed about the potentially severe effects of COVID-19 for the medically fragile and/or elderly who are entrusted to our care.”
The facility also reminds family members and the community that “reopening” is a complicated process and the decisions on relaxing restrictions are not limited to any one regulatory agency.
