Dimming your lights when you meet on-coming traffic isn't only the nice thing to do, it's the smart thing to do – especially when you're blinding someone who's wearing a badge.

A Chattooga County Deputy witnessed a vehicle failing to dim its lights so he turned around and initiated a traffic stop on Georgia 1 at Maffett Street.

When the Deputy approached, he detected an odor of marijuana coming from inside the car

The driver was soon identified as Jerel Smith; after another deputy arrived on the scene the vehicle was searched and law enforcement found two clear plastic bags containing a "green  leafy substance" suspected to be marijuana in the driver's side floorboard.

Smith, to his credit, had already told the deputy that the substance was inside the vehicle.

Smith was placed under arrest, charged with possession of marijuana (less than one ounce)
