On Thursday, December 6th, there will be a detour open house to discuss the Georgia DOT’s proposed project to replace the bridge on Old Highway 337 over Chelsea Creek. The meeting will be held from 5-7 PM in the Menlo City Hall.

“We would like to hear the viewpoints and concerns of all area residents,” says Grant Waldrop, district engineer at the Georgia DOT office in Cartersville. “The Georgia DOT strongly believes that since this project is intended to serve the people of Chattooga County, the ideas and preferences of these people are important and can make a difference in our planning. This meeting will provide the public with an opportunity to review both the proposed project and detour, ask questions, and express their preferences.”

As part of the proposed plan, an offsite detour would be necessary while crews replace the bridge on Old Hwy 337 over Chelsea Creek with a new bridge that is approximately 28 feet wide and 80 feet long. This detour open house will provide the public with an opportunity to view the proposed detour for construction, ask questions, and comment on it.

In addition, written statements will be accepted concerning this project until Thursday, December 20, 2018. Written statements may be submitted to:
