An overturned trailer caused traffic problems on Thursday evening on Highway 27 near Butler Dairy Road.

No one was injured in the accident.  The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department along with the Georgia State Patrol and the Gore Fire Department and the Summerville Fire Department, responded to the scene.

The crash took place shortly after 5 PM.

The Georgia State Patrol says that a van coming down Taylor’s Ridge was turning onto Butler Dairy road and a dump truck,  pulling a trailer and a backhoe, had to slam on its breaks to avoid slamming into the van.  The trailer jack-knifed and the overturned with the backhoe.

All four lanes of Highway 27 were shut down for nearly an hour while emergency officials worked the wreck.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident.
