Georgia is one of 23 states sharing $296 million in performance bonuses from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for providing more access to the Children`s Health Insurance Program. The Peach State will get almost $5 million to make it easier for children to enroll in PeachCare.

It will be the first time since 2009 that Georgia received a performance bonus.

Data from the Atlanta-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show that more than 1 million more children across the country have enrolled in CHIP since reauthorization.
