Local musicians along with the City of Summerville are organizing a community event known as “Pickn’ in the Park.”  The event will be held at Dowdy Park in Summerville and will be a place where local musicians can bring acoustic instruments and play Bluegrass, Gospel, Folk or Country Music.  There are no scheduled performers and pickers will be scattered throughout the park.  The weekly all acoustic jam session will have its kickoff the first Saturday in May.  After that it will be held on Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. till dusk.  Pickin in the Park is a member of the Southeastern Bluegrass Association.  All park rules will be observed and there will be no vendors and no alcoholic beverages.
