The holiday season is a wonderful time of the year, and nothing makes you feel better than doing something nice for someone else, so here’s your chance!

You can lend a hand in helping the residents of Oakview Nursing Home, have a tremendous holiday.

County Extension Coordinator Rebecca Thomas tells us that their “Nursing Home Country Store” is just that, a “country store” that is set up for the residents to go through and select either for themselves to open on Christmas morning or for their family members.

The store stock is made up of donations from the community; young people will come and gift wrap the presents for the residents; the Chattooga County Garden Club also pitches in.

Perfect items to donate would include such things as no-tread socks, new stuffed animals, small trinkets for their room, hats or caps for the gentlemen and so on.

We encourage you to take a few minutes out of your busy schedule and pick up some items to give to the “Nursing Home Country Store”, this Christmas; merchandise must be dropped off by close of business today (Tuesday, December 8th) – at the County Extension Office on Commerce Street in Summerville.
