Summerville Police recently arrested a man after they smelled marijuana coming from his residence while they were looking for a missing person.

According to a report from the Summerville Police Department, officers were summoned to a local convenience store where they met with a subject concerning a missing person.  Acting on information they received, officers went to a Turner Street residence to speak with Antonio Ashely about the missing person.

Mr. Ashley met the officers at the door and answered their questions and was then asked by the police about the smell of marijuana inside his home.  Mr. Ashely readily admitted to smoking marijuana before the officers before they got there and gave them consent to come inside his residence.

Ashely showed the officers what was left of his marijuana and told them he had no other illegal drugs in the residence.

Officers gave Mr. Ashely a citation for less than one ounce of marijuana and confiscated what remained on Mr. Ashely’s nightstand.
