Former President Jimmy Carter, who recently turned 100, has been nominated for a Grammy in the Best Audio Book, Narration, and Storytelling Recording category for his audiobook called “Last Sundays in Plains: A Centennial Celebration. ” The audiobook captures his final Sunday School lessons at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains. In an announcement about the Grammy nomination, music star LeAnn Rimes praised Carter for his legacy of kindness and dedication to humanity. This nomination is Carter’s 10th, after winning 3 Grammys in the past. Despite being in hospice care for over a year, Carter’s previous wins include Best Spoken Word Album for “Faith – A Journey For All,” “A Full Life: Reflections at Ninety,” and “Our Endangered Values: America’s Moral Crisis. ” If Carter wins this Grammy, he will become the oldest-ever winner, surpassing blues pianist Pinetop Perkins who won at age 97.
