Local voters will head to the polls tommorow to cast their votes in three contested county races.  Voters are reminded that this is the primary election and you will have to choose either a Democratic or Republican ballot.  There are no contested races on the Republican ticket.  In the county commissioners race on the Democratic ballot voters will choose from Incumbent Mike Dawson, Joe Reed, Blake Jones or Jason Winters.  On the Democratic ballot in the Sheriff’s race voters will choose from Incumbent Ralph Kellett, Aubrey "Smitty" Smith, John Everett or Daryl Reynolds.  In the Democratic Race for Chattooga County Tax Commissioner voters may choose from either Incument Kathy VanPelt Brown or Lamar Canada.

Turnout for the primary elections will likely be higher in Chattooga County than it will be state-wide.  Karen Handel, Georgia Secretary of State is looking for a turn-out state wide of only 30%.  With important contested races locally the turnout is expected to be much higher than the state average.

Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.  Stay tuned to AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio tommorrow evening for updates and complete election reports from the Chattooga County Courthouse in Summerville.
