It was determined in a court hearing on Thursday afternoon that Hutcheson Medical Center will be closing up shop.

However attorneys and the bankruptcy court are still working on a plan to try and sell the hospital to a California-based firm; another hearing regarding that plan has been scheduled for next Tuesday in Atlanta.

If successful in the acquisition attempt Prime Healthcare has promised to rehire many from the former workforce at Hutcheson.

Their time frame is short, as the hospital's license to operate is on the verge of expiring.

Hutcheson's primary creditor Region's Bank is reportedly working against the deal because they reportedly already have another party showing interest in buying the hospital surgery center on Battlefield Parkway.
