Two inmates have escaped from Hays State Prison in Pennville.  According to initial reports residents in the Pennville community began hearing the siren at Hays Prison around 11:45 this morning.

Chattooga County Sheriff Ralph Kellett told AM 1180 Chattooga County radio that law enforcement and prison officials were searching the Spring Creek Area of Northeastern Chattooga County.  Reports indicate that searches are underway on Back Penn Road as well.

The two men are described as being white males, one in his 40’s and the other in his 50’s.  If you have any information call 911 or the Chattooga County Sheriffs Department.
