Chattooga County Probate Judge Gary Woods says that a glitch in the GBI’s fingerprinting system led to a temporary halt of gun carry permits, but that the glitch has been resolved and carry permit applications are being processed by the Chattooga County Probate Court.

Judge Woods told WZQZ News that his office processed about six applications on Monday.

Commonly known as a “carry permit”, a Weapons Carry License (WCL) allows you to legally carry a concealed firearm in Georgia. You do not need a license to purchase a firearm, only to carry one in certain situations.

Georgia carry permits may be valid in other states. You can find states that practice firearm permit reciprocity with Georgia on the Georgia’s Department of Public Safety’s website.
