Chattooga County homeowners and landowners have until tomorrow to pay their 2022 property taxes without incurring any penalties.  The property tax due date in Chattooga County is December 1st.  Taxpayers are reminded that the Chattooga County Tax Office is closed on Wednesdays.

On Monday of this week, Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton said that escrow checks from finance and mortgage companies had been posted and if your property taxes are paid by escrow, those tax bills should be showing as “paid” on the tax commissioner’s web site at www.chattoogatax.com

Taxpayers can pay their taxes online at the tax commissioner’s website, but should remember that there is a convenience fee for paying with a credit card online or in the tax office.  The tax commissioner’s office will open at 7:30 AM on Thursday and remain open until 5:30 PM.
