Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters in considering a fee on wireless phones that would help to fund the county’s enhanced 911 Service.
Currently land line users pay a fee for the 911 service, however in Chattooga County cell phone users are not charged. Every county around Chattooga County charges cell phone users for the 911 service. Winters told AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio that the extra $1.50 per cell phone number will go a long way towards meeting Chattooga County’s 911 budget needs.
There will be a public hearing on the matter on Tuesday February 17th at 10 AM at the Chattooga County Commissioner’s Office. The public is invited to attend with any questions or comments that they may have.
